Inspiring Children and Readers of All Ages to Believe, Shine & Lead with Kindness
Susan M. Chandy

About the Author

Susan Chandy has been creating and writing stories for as long as she can remember. Inspired by her own childhood, her love of storytelling, and her belief in the potential within every child, Susan writes stories that encourage young readers to believe in themselves, lead with kindness, and recognize the goodness they can bring into the world.

As a first-generation North American with deep South Indian roots, Susan grew up between cultures, traditions, and ways of seeing the world. Her parents chose courage when they immigrated, carrying with them hope, faith, sacrifice, and the desire to create a life of opportunity and elevation for their family. That legacy shaped Susan’s understanding of identity, diversity, resilience, belonging, and the importance of honouring every person’s story.

Through Troy, The Angelic Dog and the books still to come, Susan shares timeless values of kindness, courage, empathy, love, confidence, and self-worth. These values are not only woven through Troy’s journey, but also reflected in Susan’s work as an educator, business leader, facilitator, and mentor. Across her professional life, she has been guided by the belief that people grow best when they feel seen, supported, encouraged, and empowered.

Susan’s storytelling is also shaped by hope — the kind of hope that keeps looking for the sun beyond the clouds, no matter how difficult the moment may feel. Through Troy’s gentle and magical presence, she hopes to remind children and families that challenges do not define us, goodness still exists, and every child has the ability to shine with heart, courage, and purpose.

Susan enjoys connecting with schools, families, organizations, and community groups that are committed to lifting, encouraging, and supporting children. To learn more, connect with Susan — and invite Troy, if he is not off travelling on one of his angelic adventures, along with Susan to your upcoming event, reading, classroom visit, or community gathering.

One child. One voice. One story at a time.
